Congressman John Hall and State Senator John Bonacic were at the Slate Hill Firehouse in the Town of Wawayanda Wednesday. They were there to try to convince officials with the Federal Highway Administration to authorize the construction of a pair of crash gates along Interstate Route 84 in order to give local firefighters quicker access to accident scenes on Route 84. The sites are at County Route 49 and off Decker Drive. The F-H-A will have to sign off on the projects before they can be built by the State Department of Transportation.
Fatal Fall

Police in the city of Kingston say there appears to be no foul play involved in the death of a Port Ewen man who apparently fell about 20 feet onto unused railroad tracks. The body of 38 year old Billy Joe Mack was found Tuesday below the intersection of Hasbrouck and Delaware Avenues. Police say Mack was watching the city's fireworks Sunday night when he wandered away from friends and disappeared. Toxicology tests will be conducted to determine if alcohol played a role in the fatal fall.

Deed Warning
- Tracy Baxter @ 12:31 pm EST
The Ulster County District Attorney's Office is sounding an alarm over a letter that's being sent to residents about certified copies of deeds. District Attorney Holley Carnright says property owners should beware of the recent solicitation from New York Record Retrieval Inc. The company is offering homeowners copies of their deeds for 60 dollars. Carnright says Ulster county residents can get certified copies from the County Clerk's office for one-tenth of that cost.
