Pot Grower - Tracy Baxter @ 10:59 am EST
Investigators with Ulster County's narcotics team say they discovered a marijuana growing operation inside a house in Gardiner. Officers were called to a residence on Mountain Road to help Child Protective Services on a visit. Police say what they found in the house was an indoor pot-growing business that included more than 20 marijuana plants and grow lights. Police say 30 year old Timothy Davenport was also selling marijuana at his residence. He's been charged with felony possession as well as endangering the welfare of a child.

Fatal Crash - Tracy Baxter @ 12:11 pm EST
A Goshen man died early Friday morning when his car went out of control and crashed on Route 17 in the Town of Goshen. 31 year old Mark Ward....who was a corrections sargeant with the Orange County Sheriff's Department...was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police say his car veered off the Quickway near Exit 122. It went down an embankment and hit a street sign and tree. Ward, an 8 year veteran with the sheriff's department, was not on duty at the time of the fatal crash. State Police said he was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol was a factor.

Should a youth curfew be imposed in the city of Newburgh? City officials want to get feedback from community residents and they've set up 3 public meetings to help get it. The meetings are Thursday at 7pm at the city's activity center on Washington Street, Saturday June 21st at 10am at the Board of Ed auditorium on Grand Street and Monday June 30th at 7pm at the Heights Community Center on South Lander Street. Curfew supporters say it would help cut down on the city's youth violence. Opponents don't think it could be enforced.

Town of Newburgh police want more residents to be aware of their Crime Stoppers phone line to help them solve the increasing number of crimes in their community. The latest incident occurred at around 1AM Wednesday when a man robbed the Winona Lake Sunoco at gunpoint. Last Saturday a house was burglarized on Cronomer Heights Drive in the Gardnertown area of town. The Crime Stoppers phone number is 566-TIPS. Information leading to an arrest will result in cash rewards.

Middletown Manhunt - Tracy Baxter @ 10:45 am EST
The search was continueing Wednesday for Jose Rodriguez, the Middletown man who allegedly assaulted a woman then barricaded himself inside a Wawayanda Avenue home Tuesday afternoon, only to flee before police arrived. Middletown police surrounded the house until, hours later, they broke in and found the house empty. Rodriguez has 30 prior arrests. The 35 year old female victim told police he had assaulted her and threatoned her with a knife before she was able to get out of the house.

Hudson Valley Congressman John Hall has added his voice to those calling for a federal investigation into alleged gasoline price gouging. Hall spoke out Tuesday at a gas station in the town of New Windsor saying that while the price of crude oil has gone down in recent days, the price at the pump continues to go up. He wants the Federal Trade Commission and the U-S Commodity Futures Trading Commission to investigate why the reduction in oil prices is not being passed on to the consumer. The current average price of a gallon of gas in New York State is 4 dollars and 17 cents.

Cadet Sentenced - Tracy Baxter @ 11:48 am EST
A West Point cadet has pleaded guilty to charges that deal with child pornography on the internet. Cadet Michael Martin....a member of the Class of 2007 ...pleaded guilty to attempting to possess child pornography, conduct unbecoming an officer and obstruction of justice. He was charged in February after attempting to destroy evidence from a personal computer. He was sentenced to 30 months confinement, forfeitture of all pay and dismissal from the Army.
